What We Do

Our purpose is to see transformation in lives of the needy in communities. Through our work, we want to see Jesus recognized as Lord over all creation, and our development activities bring glory to God through our initiatives in Teso Sub Region, Eastern Uganda.

CHILDREN & YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

HAGOSI is dedicated to upholding the rights of every child by supporting their education, providing spiritual nurturing and discipleship, and strengthening child protection systems. We work to prevent and respond to child protection violations and eliminate violence against children. HAGOSI trains church leaders, local government officials, teachers, and other key stakeholders in child protection and case management. Additionally, we collaborate with service providers to support victims of violence, children with special needs, and those at risk of abuse.

Empowering Youth

With over 50% of economically active youth unemployed and many engaged in unpaid family labor, especially young females (70%), HAGOSI strives to empower youth aged 15-24. We provide training in technical skills, start-up tools, business management, and support to help them establish small businesses, fostering a future of economic independence and opportunity.

COMMUNITY HEALTH & MISSIONS

At Hands of Good Samaritan International (HAGOSI), our Community Health & Missions program integrates evangelism, discipleship, and church planting with community health and development. This holistic approach transforms lives by addressing both spiritual and physical needs, mobilizing entire communities to break free from poverty and disease, and embracing a life of fullness—body and soul united.

Our strategy focuses on:

Church planting, Pastor training, Bible distribution, Evangelism, Disease prevention, Poverty alleviation

Our ultimate purpose is deep, lasting transformation in individuals and communities, reflecting the fullness of God’s Kingdom. Through our work, Jesus is recognized as Lord over all creation, and every development activity glorifies Him by demonstrating His plan for wholeness and redemption.

Also through our community health and missions we also carry out discipleship classes, pastors conferences, evangelical crusades and jesus film show.  This is because to us faith is at the core of everything we do at Hands of Good Samaritan international. Through evangelism and partnerships with local and international supporters, we help communities grow spiritually.

EDUCATION

At Hands of Good Samaritan International (HAGOSI), our education program focuses on empowering children aged 6 to 18 years to unlock their full potential. We aim to provide access to quality educational opportunities while fostering environments where children can thrive emotionally, socially, and intellectually.

Our program emphasizes:

Supporting children to develop literacy, numeracy, and critical life skills needed for healthy decision-making.

  1. Encouraging positive relationships with peers, adults, and families who care for and protect them.
  2. Ensuring children grow up in supportive homes and communities that encourage their active participation in addressing challenges and creating meaningful change.
  3. Promoting the overall health and well-being of children and young adolescents, enabling them to engage actively in community life and contribute positively to society.

Our ultimate goal is to see children and adolescents become healthy, educated, and empowered individuals who can lead fulfilling lives and make a difference in their families and communities.

MOTHERS TOUCH PROGRAM

At the heart of our mission is offering women a "practical embrace" — a tangible act of love that helps break barriers of mistrust and renews hope. Our first step in the journey of restoration involves providing women with an "Embrace Package," which includes essentials like a mattress, blanket, cooking utensils, a charcoal stove, and hygiene supplies. We also offer emergency relief support for medical, housing, and food needs when life’s challenges arise. This assistance is given for a short period as we work with women to develop more sustainable solutions for their future.

WE EMPOWER

At HAGOSI, we empower vulnerable women in our program areas by providing practical and sustainable solutions to meet their key needs. Through adult literacy, vocational training, business classes, and job opportunities, we equip women with the skills necessary to support their families and restore their dignity. We believe that when women are empowered, they reach their full potential, transforming not only their lives but also the lives of their families.

WE ENGAGE Our program empowers Neighborhood Mothers by providing training to help them gain essential skills for earning a decent living. Once trained, they form small groups (10-15 members) to establish Community Savings & Loan Associations (CSLAs). Through these associations, they access startup capital to launch their own businesses. By walking alongside these women, we create sustainable solutions for them to support their families, while encouraging them to extend their impact within their communities.

Your support helps us build lasting change., using what they’ve learned to help equip other women with vocational skills.

HOPE FOR THE AGED PROGRAM

Support Hope for the Aged Program to transform Lives with Love and Compassion

Hope for the Aged is a heartfelt ministry initiative by HAGOSI, designed to extend the love of Jesus Christ to those who need it most, particularly the elderly. Through this program, we aim to bring hope, joy, and transformation to their lives and to others in vulnerable situations.

Our mission is not limited to the elderly we also visit prisons, hospitals, and communities with disabled persons to share the good news of Jesus Christ in both word and deed. By addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, we inspire hope and empower them to be agents of change in their communities.

In partnership with local churches and mission-driven organizations, we are committed to:

  1. Visiting the elderly to provide care, support, and encouragement.
  2. Ministering to the sick in hospitals with compassion and prayer.
  3. Reaching out to inmates in prisons, offering a message of forgiveness and redemption.
  4. Supporting disabled individuals within our communities with love and assistance.

Water for Life Program.

Did you know? In most parts of Uganda, people still travel miles and miles to collect their water. Then, they physically carry the 42 pounds of water back home. With you that story can change to the glory of God.

Why water? clean water is key to ending poverty but nearly 1in 5 people in eastern Uganda faces severe water shortages and half must walk distance not less than 45 minutes to reach a protected well or water source. Our interventions are aimed at contributing towards increased access to safe and clean water and ensuring that communities, schools are trained on best hygiene and sanitation practices so as to contribute towards complete health.
